Can you believe that it’s already February? A month back into our daily grind and the festive break seems like a distant memory. While most people are already back at the office and in full swing, summer is still very much in the air – especially in Cape Town.

The Magnificent Barista Boys have put together a few Summer Sundowner recipes featuring our newest family member. Introducing Magnifique, a new range of premium cordials with a spectacular flavour. From Elderflower and Rose Bliss to Ginger and Lemon Zing, here are a few ways to shake up your weekend entertaining.

Elderflower and Rose Bliss G&T:

Let’s kick off our cocktail journey with the Elderflower and Rose Bliss, a delightful dance of floral elegance and bold gin, perfect for a South African summer.


  • 2 parts of Gin
  • 1 part of Elderflower and Rose Cordial
  • 0.5 parts of Fresh Lime  Juice
  • Tonic Water
  • Ice
  • Sliced Lime and Rose Petals for Garnish


In a shaker, let the gin, elderflower and rose cordial, and fresh lime  juice mingle. Shake it like you’re celebrating a summer fiesta and strain it into a highball glass filled with ice. Top it off with tonic water and give it a gentle stir. Garnish with fresh sliced lime and rose petals for that touch of elegance.

Ginger and Lemon Martini

Moving on to our next adventure, the Ginger and Lemon Zing – a fiery kick of ginger, a burst of citrusy lemon, and the smooth embrace of vodka to keep you cool in the South African heat.


  • 2 parts of Vodka
  • 1 part of Ginger and Lemon Cordial
  • 0.5 parts Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Sliced Ginger and Lemon for Garnish
  • Ice


Fill a cocktail shaker with vodka, ginger and lemon cordial, and fresh lemon juice. Shake it like you’re dancing to the rhythm of a summer beat and strain it into a chilled martini glass or over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish it with sliced lemon and ginger for that extra zing.

Sundried Orange and Rooibos Twist

Let’s take a detour to the Sundried Orange and Rooibos Refresher. This whiskey-infused treat blends the rich flavors of whiskey with the sun-kissed essence of sundried orange and South African rooibos.


  • 2 parts Whiskey
  • 1 part Sundried Orange and Rooibos Cordial
  • Ginger Ale
  • 4 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Orange Twist (peel) and Rosemary Sprig for Garnish
  • Ice


In a mixing glass, combine the whiskey, sundried orange and rooibos cordial.. Stir it like you’re stirring up the summer breeze and strain it into a highball glass with ice and top up with ginger ale. Add 4 dashes of bitters. Express the oil from an orange twist over the drink, drop it in and finish with a sprig of rosemary as a garnish.

Passionfruit and Mint Sparkler

For our grand finale, let’s end the summer soiree with the Passionfruit and Mint Sparkler – a tropical mix of rum, passionfruit, and fresh mint to cool you down as the sun sets.


  • 2 parts White Rum
  • 2 parts Passionfruit and Mint Cordial
  • Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Passion Fruit pulp
  • Soda Water
  • Ice


In a Rocks glass, muddle fresh mint leaves, passion fruit pulp and passionfruit and mint cordial. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add rum. Top with club soda. Stir gently and garnish with a mint sprig.
