1. Prepare the Machine:
– Empty and clean the drip tray.
– Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to the maximum line.
– Insert a blind filter basket (sealed, no holes) or rubber seal into the portafilter.

2. Backflush the Group Head:
– Add ½ teaspoon of cleaning powder to the blind filter basket.
– Lock the portafilter into the group head.
– *Manual Cleaning*: Run the brew cycle for 10 seconds, pause for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
– *Automated Cleaning*: If your machine has an automated cleaning function, follow its specific instructions.
– *Rinse*: Remove the portafilter, rinse out residual detergent, reinsert with the blind basket, and run the brew cycle for 5 seconds on, 5 seconds off. Repeat 5 times.

3. Soak and Rinse Parts:
– Soak the portafilter, baskets, and removable parts in a solution of hot water and cleaning powder for 30 minutes.
– Rinse all parts thoroughly with clean, hot water.

4. Final Rinse and Purge:
– Pull and discard a shot of espresso to clear any residue.
– Purge the steam wand (if applicable) to remove any cleaning solution.
